a question
"Why should premium human hair cost a fortune — and why does so much of it still not look or feel natural?"
Formi was born from that frustration. Based in the American South, we started as a small online shop with one mission: bring salon-quality, 100% human hair to Black women at prices that actually make sense.
We spent our early days listening — to customers in our community, to stylists in local salons, to women who had tried everything and were still searching for hair that felt like their own. What we heard shaped everything: the textures we carry, the caps we design, and the standards we hold ourselves to.
Today, Formi has grown from that first small shop into a brand trusted by thousands, with 12 retail locations across five states and a loyal online community.

Formi started as a small e-commerce store serving women in the American South who were looking for premium human hair at fair prices. Just a deep belief that quality shouldn't come with a luxury price tag.
Building a quality supply chain
As demand grew, we formed an exclusive partnership with one of the world's leading human hair producers — giving us direct oversight of materials, processes, and quality at every step.
Listening, learning, expanding
Guided by customer feedback, we expanded from wigs into crochet hair, bulk braiding hair, and extensions. Every new product was developed in response to what our community actually asked for.
Opening doors in the real world
We opened our flagship location in Lawrenceville, Georgia — where customers could touch, try, and experience Formi in person. Seeing our products on real women reminded us why we started.
